The Studio
A house should feel finished the day you move in.
Ardent was founded in 2009 on a simple frustration. Too many beautiful Malaysian homes were being handed over with cheap ironmongery, lighting as an afterthought and joinery that swelled in the first monsoon. We build the unglamorous parts properly first.
We keep the practice small and take six to eight homes a year, which means the person who draws your house is the person standing on your site. Materials are chosen in daylight, sampled in your own space, and specified for a climate that is humid twelve months of the year.

Four stages, no surprises
You know the scope, the cost and the date before demolition starts. Everything after that is our job to hold.

Consultation & Brief
We meet at your property, measure what exists and listen to how you actually live in it. You leave with a clear scope, a realistic budget band and a timeline you can plan around.

Concept & Material Palette
Layouts, mood direction and a physical sample tray you can hold. Timber, stone, metal and fabric are chosen together so the house reads as one piece, not a collection of rooms.
- 03
Technical Drawings & Costing
Full construction drawings, joinery details and a line-by-line cost breakdown. Management approvals, DBKL submissions and contractor tendering are handled before a single wall moves.

Build & Handover
Weekly site walks, a running photo log and one point of contact. We hand over cleaned, styled and with a care guide for every finish in the house.

The things owners ask first
If yours is not here, send it over. We answer honestly, including when the answer is that we are not the right studio for the job.
How are your design fees structured?
Design is charged on the scope of the property, not as a percentage of your renovation spend, so our advice stays neutral when we specify materials. The figures shown are starting points for a full scope and are confirmed after the first site visit.
How long does a full home take?
A condominium unit typically runs four to six months from design sign-off to handover. Landed properties with structural work run seven to eleven months. We give you a dated programme before you commit and update it weekly on site.
Do you handle management and DBKL approvals?
Yes. Building management submissions, deposit lodgement, hacking approvals and DBKL renovation permits where required are prepared and submitted by our team as part of the technical stage.
Can we keep our own contractor?
You can. Choose Design Direction and you receive the complete drawing set and material schedule to build with your own team. We remain available for site consultation at an hourly rate.
Do you work outside the Klang Valley?
We take selected projects in Penang, Ipoh and Johor Bahru. Travel and accommodation for the site team are quoted separately and agreed with you before work begins.
