Studio Rana designs quiet, warm interiors in the Japandi tradition. Pale timber, honest plaster and a great deal of restraint, detailed properly for humidity and for the way families actually live here.

Malaysian apartments are not large. We win space by removing, not by adding built-ins to every wall. Empty floor is a material we specify on purpose.
Oak, lime plaster, paper, linen, blackened steel. A short list, repeated through the home, so the eye rests instead of counting finishes.
Solid timber moves in our humidity. We detail for it, seal for it and pick finishes that still look right after five years of monsoon and aircon.

It was our own, it was too small, and every quote we received wanted to line the walls with laminate. We did the opposite, stripped it back, and neighbours started asking who did it. Nine years later the studio is still deliberately small, four of us, working on about fifteen homes a year.
We are not the cheapest quote you will get, and we will say no to a brief that fights the space. What we promise is a home that still feels calm on the day you sell it.
These are honest starting figures for the Klang Valley, inclusive of design, carpentry and site supervision. Your quote is fixed after the first visit.

Most requestedOur most requested scope. Every room drawn as one continuous space so the home reads calm from the door to the balcony.

For owners doing it themselves. We walk the space, then send a written direction with layout, palette, lighting and a shopping list.

Ninety minutes in your space. We measure, photograph and ask how each room is actually used, not how it was sold to you.
Layout options, then one direction with a palette and simple 3D views. Two rounds of changes are included, unhurried.
Our own carpenters and a fixed programme. You get a weekly photo update and a single person to call.
Cleaned, dressed and handed over with a folder of finishes, paint codes and care notes for everything we installed.

We nearly filled every wall with cabinets because that is what the first two contractors quoted. Rana took things away instead and the apartment feels twice the size.
Quiet, tidy site. They protected the corridor and the lift lobby without being asked, and my building management still brings them up to other owners.
We reply within one working day and arrange a ninety minute visit at your convenience. There is no charge and no obligation for the first meeting.
Yes, with the right detailing. We use solid timber only where movement is controlled, specify finishes that wipe clean, and design storage so the calm survives real life. Minimal is a discipline about what you keep visible, not a ban on owning things.
One room is our smallest built scope. Below that, Direction Only gives you the layout, palette and sourcing list to do it yourself, and many clients come back for a full home later.
We source it. Loose furniture is quoted separately at supplier cost with our sourcing fee stated openly, so you always see what the piece actually costs.
Ten to fourteen weeks from design sign-off, assuming building management approval comes through in the usual two weeks. We give you a dated schedule before you commit.
The Klang Valley as standard, which covers Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang, Puchong and Kajang. Penang and Johor Bahru projects are taken twice a year with travel quoted upfront.
